This is a 90-minute recording of a live webcast.

This program will enhance participants understanding of culture, cultural competency, disability, and people first language. Program faculty will discuss the importance of cultural sensitivity in providing appropriate and effective patient care. Aspects of best practices will be outlined to help participants learn how to manage roadblocks to cultural sensitivity and diversity while emphasizing the potential for positive outcomes when best practices are integrated into the organizational culture.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Define disability and enhance participants’ understanding of the different types of disabilities.
  • Increase participants’ understanding of the importance of People First Language.
  • Define culture and enhance participants’ understanding of the influence of culture on health care services.
